The short version: Audio Recorder Bar runs entirely on your Mac. It does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. There are no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Your recordings and transcripts stay on your computer, under your control.
What the app records
Audio Recorder Bar captures audio you explicitly choose to record: the system audio you hear (the call, video, or music playing through your headphones or speakers) and, if you enable it, your microphone. This audio is written directly to a file on your Mac, in a folder you select. Capturing system audio uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit, which requires the Screen & System Audio Recording permission; the app uses it only for audio and never records or stores your screen.
Transcription
Transcription runs on-device using Apple's speech recognition. Your audio is not uploaded to Apple or anyone else for transcription. The resulting text file is saved next to the recording.
Where your files live
Recordings (.m4a) and transcripts (.txt) are stored locally in the folder you choose on first use. They are yours. You can move, copy, or delete them at any time using Finder. Deleting the app does not delete recordings you have already made.
Data we collect
None. The app has no network code, no telemetry, and no accounts. We never see your recordings, transcripts, or how you use the app.
A note on recording laws
Recording a conversation without telling the other people may be illegal where you live. You are responsible for getting any consent the law requires. Tell people before you record.
